On 13 September 2017, as part of DET CRC’s Annual Conference, we held a series of demonstrations at the Brukunga Drilling Research and Training Facility (DRTF) featuring drilling, sensing, sampling and analytical technologies developed throughout the lifetime of the CRC.  Seven of our top ten highlights are drawn from those demonstrations.

Our live technology demonstration at this year’s Annual Conference provided the opportunity for our latest technologies to be presented real time in a real life scenario.  This demonstration involved the RoXplorer® starting at surface and running in to the bottom of the 165 metre deep hole and drilling 6 metres while generating a sample presented to the sample splitter and Lab-at-Rig®.  After the 6m had been drilled the RoXplorer® tripped out of the hole at ≈20m/min where the bottom hole assembly and geological (GeoSub) tooling was unloaded – all completed in 45 minutes from the start to end.  The start of the revolution is now!
