Fluid Loss Managed From 100% to 2%

Drilling fluid data collected over an approximately 30 minute interval during the Annual Conference CT drilling technology demonstration.  Flow in and flow out are closely matched, illustrating ~98% fluid retention during the demonstration.

During our live technology demonstration at this year’s Annual Conference the fluid return was within 98% of the drilling fluid circulation rate.  The drilling was carried out using water, while 2000 litres of hydrated CTrolTM was on hold to control the fluid loss in the case of encountering a fracture zone during the demonstration.  Before the demonstration, the borehole was undergoing significant fluid loss in the range of 50% to 100%.  Using the preventative method, the return was increased to 80% using circulation of CTrolTM, and after the implementation of remedial solutions, the return improved to 98%.
